Final push on the doorsteps
IT'S just two days until the Scottish Parliament elections and campaigning has reached intense levels across Dumfries and Galloway. Many of the parties have been rolling out the 'big guns' to help with the final push. SNP leader John Swinney was back in the area on Monday, this time in Dumfries. Not to be outdone, Dumfriesshire's Conservative candidate Craig Hoy welcomed former leader, Baroness Ruth Davidson, to Langholm at the weekend for some door knocking.
Meanwhile, former First Minister Jack McConnell joined his namesake, Jack McConnel, in Dumfries on Sunday to meet voters. Jack junior, who is contesting Galloway and West Dumfries for Labour, said: “Jack McConnell is a towering figure in Scottish politics, with a legacy to match. It was fantastic to see how warmly he was met here."
