ANNANDALE’S Eden Festival has hit back at critics online, in a bizarre case of mistaken identity.

The festival at Raehills Meadows has gotten tangled up in a barrage of complaints and criticism aimed at The Eden Project in Cornwall after it was announced that Northern Irish hip hop group Kneecap would be performing at their Cornish festival in July.

Kneecap, made up of Móglaí Bap, Mo Chara, and DJ Próvaí, shot to fame following the release of their film, Kneecap last year. And most recently they faced criticism for their controversial performance over Easter weekend at Coachella.

Although it was announced on Tuesday that the group’s performance was cancelled, a spokesperson for the Eden Festival said yesterday: “We are not in any way affiliated with the festival ‘Eden Sessions’ in Cornwall. We didn’t book Kneecap and have never had them on our line-up for this year, but they would, of course, be more than welcome should they ever want to visit. As a fiercely independent festival, we stand with free speech and peace.

“Please redirect your angry comments to the right festival.”
