Eric's works on show
THE Eric Robinson Bequest exhibition is now open in Gallery 2 of Gracefield Arts Centre, Dumfries. Art lover and collector Eric (1930 – 2024) was born in Stoke on Trent but had lived in Edinburgh since the mid1980s and most of his large art collection was displayed in his elegant New Town flat. It was his wish that his collection be given to public collections on his death and Gracefield was honoured to be a recipient of the largest single bequest, facilitated by the Art Fund UK. The 77 works include key Scottish artists such as Joan Eardley, Robert Colquhoun, alongside important internationally renowned artist like David Hockney and Paula Rego.
A spokesperson said: “Although his collection was assembled with a limited budget, he proved that with confidence, it is still possible to buy and be surrounded by beautiful objects. He enjoyed them every day of his life and his collecting passion he wanted to encourage and share.”
