SOUTH of Scotland Enterprise (SOSE) has announced that Scottish Ministers are seeking to appoint a new member to its Board. The region’s economic and community development agency is looking for an applicant who can demonstrate current experience in either renewables, energy or Net Zero. The main duties of SOSE Board members are to provide leadership, governance, direction, support and guidance.

In addition, Board members are expected to ensure that SOSE delivers its functions effectively and efficiently and in accordance with the aims, policies and priorities of Scottish Ministers. The successful candidate will start their role in October, and will replace Jeremy Sainsbury who is stepping down after five years. SOSE chair Russel Griggs OBE said: “Being a Board member at SOSE is an exciting opportunity and offers something really different, in terms of the breadth and depth of what we do for everyone in the South of Scotland. “You will be asked to make bold decisions and will play a vital role in the governance and strategic direction of not only SOSE, but now also the South of Scotland as a whole.” Jeremy added: “I would encourage anyone to apply to join the SOSE Board – it is a good thing to do.”
