SNP’S GALLOWAY and West Dumfries candidate Emma Harper is bracing herself ahead of constituency results, the first of which are expected to come in later today.
She has served as an MSP for the South Scotland region since 2016 and will need to swing the vote in the constituency by 2.25 per cent to win the seat from the Conservatives’ Finlay Carson.
She said: “We’re optimistic that the turnout has been larger than it has been in previous Holyrood elections.”
“It’s a big day for all of us across Scotland, I’m sure we’re all keenly watching the polls and the numbers as they come out and for me right now today I’m keen to see how my colleague Joan McAlpine gets on in the Dumfriesshire constituency.
“Many candidates describe how they get nervous, they get excited, one minute we’re up the next we’re down, it’s great to be involved in the whole process and I will be waiting for my results to come out tomorrow as well.
“My goal is to win the constituency of Galloway and West Dumfries.
“Right now we’re looking at some of the data coming in, looking at the percentage turnout and we’re optimistic that the turnout has been larger than it has been in previous Holyrood elections.”
