Elderly woman dies after collision

POLICE officers in Stranraer are appealing for information following a fatal accident at the weekend. The accident happened at 10.20 am on Sheuchan Street near the junction with Park Lane and involved a female pedestrian and a white Vauxhall Vivaro van. The 85-year-old woman was taken to hospital where she later died. The road was closed for crash investigation work and re-opened around 7.15 pm. Sergeant Scott Costley said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who died and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances. “We are asking anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.
