Earth Day marked with striking art show

THE creative exhibition ‘Washed Up and Blue’ was opened last week at the atrium in Dumfries and Galloway Infirmary in order to mark Earth Day 2025.

NHS Dumfries and Galloway partnered with OutPost Arts and Shambellie House to host the display that aligns with its objectives to become a Net Zero organisation by 2040.

Showcasing striking cyanotype prints and hidden reflections inspired by items discarded and washed up along the Solway coast, this exhibition explored the important themes of migration, marine waste, and ecological fragility.

The artwork was made by community participants through a collaborative project led by local regional artists and supported by the Solway Firth Partnership and Waste Stories.

The event aligned with NHS Dumfries and Galloway Net Zero ambitions to support creative community engagement and raising awareness for environmental responsibility, sustainability, and the need for urgent care of our natural environment.
