Dumfriesshire stays Conservative

CRAIG Hoy has been elected to serve as the MSP for Dumfriesshire. He succeeds fellow Conservative Oliver Mundell to keep the seat for the party. Mr Hoy, above, polled 11,370 votes. A close second was Stephen Thompson for the SNP with 10,262 votes. Taking to the stage, Mr Hoy said: "This result was on a knife edge but we did show that yet again, here in Dumfriesshire, the Scottish Conservatives can stop the SNP and hold Reform in check." Meanwhile, Reform's David Kirkwood polled 5783; Linda Dorward for Labour secured 3364 votes; and there were 200 votes for Paul Adkins for the Scottish Common Party; and 1660 for Lib Dem's Iain MacDonald, The voter turnout was 51.7%.
