A WRITER and podcaster from Dumfries has been celebrated as one of Scotland’s 30 Under 30s.

Muminah Koleoso has been included on the tenth annual 30 Under 30 list by The Young Women’s Movement.

It’s a national charity for young women’s leadership and rights and every year it highlights those who are leading change and excelling in their fields.

Muminah, 24, is an multi-award-winning writer, content creator, journalist and advocate, who created and hosts Sister Station, a podcast which amplifies the voices of Black and Muslim women and women of colour. She has performed her poetry at the Edinburgh International Book Festival, and is the recipient of the 2025 Young Scot Award for Culture & Entertainment, the MCM Comic Con Scholarship, and the Black Scottish Awards’ Creative of the Year.

Explaining her selection, the Young Women’s Movement said: “Muminah is an exceptional young leader whose influence in Scotland’s creative and civic spaces continues to grow. She brings a much-needed voice to Scottish public life, rooted in creativity, community, and commitment to social justice and inclusion.”

And the charity’s CEO Emma Hill added: “This is a particularly challenging time to be a young woman – gender-based violence and misogyny are rising, and young women tell us that they feel let down by public services and decision-makers. The impact these young women are making in light of these challenges is significant and important, and we’re honoured to be celebrating their successes and courage.”
