Dumfries gets a glow-up

PREPARATIONS for Dumfries' glow-up are underway as the town board organises litter picks ahead of the return of the Northern Lights trail. The Dumfries Town Board is working in partnership with the Northern Lights 2026 event which opens on Thursday. In support of the event, the Town Board is organising litter picking, environmental improvements, and general clean-up work across the town, ensuring Dumfries is welcoming for both residents and visitors attending the event. A spokesperson for the town board said: "The initiative has been developed to support the key Northern Lights locations while bringing the community together to help improve and enhance the town’s appearance. "A full timetable of litter-picking locations, including dates, times, and meeting points, will be available on our social media pages and website but also in the image above. Volunteers are encouraged to take part at times that suit them, with support provided throughout the week."
