Drum day to return this month
FEEL the beat as Dumfries Drum Day returns to the Loreburn Hall later this month. Now in its third year, the day is set to bring young people from across Dumfries and Galloway and beyond to unite and celebrate their love for the instrument. The day celebrates all things drums, featuring top drummers and educators from across Scotland as well as young drummers in the region. It’s also supported by youth initiative Up Yer Airts. Highlights of the event include: main stage headliners Kyle Sharp, Mark Scobbie, Graham Costello and Cat Myers who are four of the top drummers in Scotland; there will also be a young drummer showcase where young drummers performing with the live house band, as well as educational workshops and group lessons on electronic drum kits and fastest drummer competition. Organiser Bob Irving hopes this year will be even more memorable, he said: “I used to attend events like this when I was younger. They were always inspiring and I’d leave feeling inspired with a new excitement to play the drums. Unfortunately there weren’t any events like this in Scotland, so I started Dumfries Drum Day to keep that inspiration going. “The drumming community is something really special and it’s so exciting to now be in our third year!” For more information about Drum Day visit: www.dumfriesdrum.day.
