Drugs haul worth £77k

COCAINE, heroin and cannabis worth £77,500 were seized near Lockerbie on Wednesday night. And two people have been arrested and charged in connection with the drugs recovery on the A74(M). The pair were stopped by police whilst they were travelling northbound near Lockerbie on Wednesday evening at 8.20 pm. The various quantities of cocaine, heroin and cannabis with an estimated street value of £77,500 were seized. A 47-year-old man and 39-year-old woman are due to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court at a later date. Commenting, Detective Superintendent Steven Elliott said: “These arrests underline our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country’s Serious Organised Crime Strategy. Taking drugs off the street is a priority for Police Scotland. “Drugs cause misery in our communities, and the public has a vital role in helping us to trace those involving in the supply of illegal substances. “Anyone with information or concerns about drugs should contact us via 101 or make a call to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
