LESS weddings were held in Annandale and Eskdale last year than in 2013.

A total of 4421 ceremonies were registered at the area’s five registration offices – a drop of 269 compared to the same period a year earlier.
But the figures in Lockerbie and Moffat were actually higher than the previous 12 months.
There were 205 unions in Lockerbie –\!a rise of nine – and the number of couples saying ‘I do’ in Moffat also rose by 19 to 215.
Meanwhile, ceremonies rose by 24 in Annan to 561 but fell by nine in Langholm to 52.
And Gretna’s figures also dropped from 3700 ceremonies in 2013 to 3388 last year.
