BEATTOCK man Glenn Jardine is putting his best foot forward to fundraise for a bench in memory of his father. The 42-year-old is running the Edinburgh half marathon in May in memory of his dad, David (Dade), who passed away last year aged 66 after a 16-year-long battle with brain cancer. Glenn describes his dad as a ‘big family man’ with a passion for football and Tottenham Hotspur, and is determined to honour his memory. He is no stranger to the capital race, having previously completed it five times in the past. This time round he’s set himself a fundraising goal of £2000 for a memorial bench to be placed in Beattock park facing the football pitch where his dad used to play football. RUNNING MAN . . . Glenn[/caption] Glenn said: “The money raised this year will go towards a memorial bench in Beattock park where I use to watch my dad play football and scoring goals for Moffat Thistle. “Since my dad got diagnosed with a brain tumour it’s been my main target to try raise money to find a cure for this horrible disease. I’ve ran the London Marathon, Edinburgh Marathon and this will be my sixth Edinburgh half marathon, and I’ll not stop until I’m unable to raise money.” So far, Glenn has raised £545 through his Just Giving page, to donate to the fundraiser visit: www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/glenn-jardine.
