Dog attacks reported in royal burgh
A CLUSTER of dog attacks in Lochmaben have left pet owners shaken. One woman was walking her dog in Lochmaben forest near the football pitch on Monday when a spaniel-type dog came ‘out of nowhere’ and attacked it. She described how it ‘turned violent’ when she tried to walk away and latched onto her dog and would not let go. The owner was apparently ‘nowhere to be seen’. Eventually the situation was resolved but the woman’s dog was left traumatised. She is concerned it could happen again and end differently, with a person or animal getting hurt. The matter has been reported to the police and the other owner has made contact and apologised.
Meanwhile, another woman was walking her dog on Stanedyke Crescent on Wednesday when it was attacked and bitten by two others. The canine victim and the woman are both shaken and it has been reported to the council’s dog warden. Dumfries and Galloway Council were contacted for comment.
