SOUTH West Scotland has been ranked in the top ten best places to live in the UK.

This region came joint tenth – with Inverclyde, East Renfrewshire and Renfrewshire – in the annual UK Quality of Life Index compiled by uSwitch.com, ranking the best and worst places to live in Britain.
It is a massive boost up the poll since the last survey in 2013 when it was ranked at number 112.
Edinburgh claimed the top spot overall and Ann Robinson, director of consumer policy at uSwitch.com, said: “Scotland as a whole is the star performer, with its regions easily making the biggest climbs in the ranks this year.”
The research assessed 138 local areas on 26 different factors including employment rate, average gross income, exam results, house prices, average weekly rents, crime rates, life expectancy, hours of sunshine and energy prices, to provide a complete picture of the quality of life in each region.
