JOANNE Johnstone, programme manager at Dumfries Town Board met John Cooper MP to discuss the ongoing regeneration efforts and future ambitions for the town. She highlighted their key priorities of youth involvement, housing, and strengthening connections with local businesses. And Mr Cooper shared his views and suggestions, encouraging the Board to continue building on its positive community impact. He emphasised the importance of collaboration with Police Scotland regarding CCTV provision, and suggested exploring new ways to monetise local tourism opportunities such as themed trails. Afterwards, Joanne said: “It was an extremely constructive discussion. We appreciated John’s time, his enthusiasm for what’s happening locally, and his practical suggestions on how we can continue to strengthen community pride and visibility.” John Cooper MP added: “It’s great to see the progress the Dumfries Town Board is making.
