Creative challenge opens for entries

A LOCKDOWN contemporary art challenge has been launched.

The Gracefield Arts Centre team in Dumfries are calling for people around the region to get creative.

They said: “Find an artwork that inspires you, our inspiration was sculptor Anthony Gormley: we chose his ‘Field for the British Isles’, an installation of over 40,000 clay figures, but you could look up Tracy Emin, Banksy or Damian Hirst and make a kitchen table version using whatever you have at home.”

Individual or team entries are permitted and photos of the finished piece should be sent to the centre via Facebook Messenger. Don’t forget to mention the artwork and artist’s name that inspired you.

Submissions will be posted in an online gallery and one will win a voucher for the Gracefield craft shop, to spend when it reopens.

The challenge closing date is Monday February 15.
