THE man who died in a crash on the A75 near Dumfries has been named as Phillip Thompson.

The 54-year-old was the driver of a BMW X5 which crashed at the Glen on Friday January 16 at about 12.50 pm.

His vehicle was the only one involved and Mr Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say their enquiries are still ongoing and Sergeant Colin Ramage yesterday said: "Our thoughts remain with Phillip's family and friends and our enquiries into the crash are continuing. I would appeal to anyone who has yet to speak to us to get in touch."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1526 of Friday, 16 January, 2026.
