Crackdown on drink and drug drivers
POLICE arrested six people for drink and drug driving offences in the region last weekend. Officers made six arrests relating to drink or drug driving across Dumfries and Galloway last weekend, crediting a more pro-active policing approach and assistance from communities. A force spokesperson said: “Unfortunately, we are seeing a worrying trend with an increase in detections of drivers being caught whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs, particularly drugs. “If you are concerned about a driver’s behaviour or are aware of someone driving under the influence, please let us know and help us keep the region’s roads safe, we can’t do it without you. “The consequences of driving under the influence can be devastating. “Remember - there is no safe limit.”
