Country dance fans converge on Moffat
MOFFAT played host to a vibrant celebration of Scottish country dancing last weekend.
Over 80 dancers, families, and friends descended on the town, coming from Aberdeenshire to Brighton and everywhere in between for the RSCDS Families and Friends Weekend.
It was led by convenor Linda Williamson, a resident of Amisfield, who was instrumental in bringing the event to the region.
She said: “Moffat provided an ideal setting for this event, with its welcoming community and excellent facilities.”
The weekend began with a lively Friday evening ceilidh and on Saturday classes were held for all ages and abilities. Well known RSCDS teachers and musicians ensured that everyone had a rewarding experience.
Saturday evening’s Scottish country dance took place in Upper Annandale Parish Church, where Alasdair Brown piped the dancers into the hall. RSCDS chair Gary Coull welcomed everyone and joined Linda to cut a celebration cake, marking a special moment for the community.
On Sunday morning, each class gave a demonstration of what they had learned, followed by a quiz around Moffat and a final ceilidh session to conclude the weekend.
