Council offer support to IJB
DUMFRIES and Galloway Council has confirmed a carefully managed year-end financial position for 2024/25, taking targeted action to support core services during a period of national sustained financial pressure. As part of this position, councillors agreed a £1.819 million year-end contribution to the region’s Integration Joint Board (IJB) at the last Enabling and Customer Services Committee. The funding addresses an overspend on adult health and social care services delegated to the IJB by the council. It reflects the council’s wider commitment to joint working and supporting vulnerable residents through integrated care delivery. Commenting, committee chair Councillor John Campbell said: “Supporting the IJB through this additional year-end contribution was the right thing to do. It reflects the importance of working together to manage financial pressures and maintain continuity across local care services." Vice chair Councillor Ben Dashper added: “We know how important integrated health and social care is to people across our region. This funding decision shows that, even in a tough financial climate, we remain committed to our shared responsibilities.”
