Conference was a day to remember
LEARNING Disability Week was marked in Dumfries and Galloway and culminated in a conference. Last week’s event was described as ‘a joyful celebration’ of the work happening locally to support people with learning disabilities. Service users took centre stage, hosting, performing, sharing their stories and showcasing their talents. From art and music to volunteering and community involvement, the event highlighted their confidence, creativity and connection. The conference featured teams from all six Activity and Resource Centres, as well as Castle Douglas Care and Support Service, Dunmuir Park and The Rowans. A council spokesperson said: “Staff and service users alike made it a day to remember. “The event ended with the most fabulous sing-along and conga line at the end which said it all: fun, friendship and fulfilment at the heart of everything we do.”
