UNCERTAINTY hangs over Moffat Community Woodlands (MCW) as the organisation finds itself in a ‘perilous’ situation.

The conservation charity, which owns maintains land at Gallow Hill has shared its struggles on social media this week.

Describing the current situation as a ‘critical point’ for the group stating: “As things stand, we are in a perilous situation. There is uncertainty around the continuing involvement of several trustees, which makes for an unsustainable position. The continuing existence of MCW as an organisation and registered Scottish charity (SCIO) is uncertain.

“The charity still owns the land at Gallow Hill/Beechwood and is in a solvent position – but legally and constitutionally we must have trustees to run the organisation.

“We also need a functioning set of trustees even if we want to explore options such as passing our assets to another charity with similar aims.

“Two people, both with experience in the charity sector, have expressed an interest in moving things forward, but realistically we need at least three or four new faces to join us.

“If you are interested in helping to secure our future, please get in touch by email, [email protected] or Facebook ‘Friends of Gallow Hill’.”
