Community purchase former pub

AN eyesore building on Sanquhar High Street has been purchased by and for the community.

Sanquhar Enterprise Company has acquired the ownership of Whigham’s Inn, with funding from the Upper Nithsdale Community Trust,

A company spokesperson said: "This is very welcome news as Whigham’s Inn has been a continuous eyesore on the High Street for many years.

"Now that we have secured the property we will press ahead with development plans which will be presented to the community in due course."
