TWO members of the British Coal Superannuation Scheme from this region have appeared on TV talking about the situation.

The representatives from Upper Nithsdale were live on Good Morning Britain to be interviewed by Juliet Dunlop.

They were discussing a recent announcement by the Chancellor Rachael Reeves in the November budget to release the Investment Reserve Fund held by the Government to the scheme.

Billy Ogg and Allan Kenney stressed that the long campaign of over 13 months had finally paid off with the Labour Government releasing the funds.

Just under 40,000 members will benefit from this rise in their pension along with a backdated payment to November 2024 in line with the Mineworkers Pension Scheme members who received their rise in their pension in November 2023.

The campaign contacting and meeting MPs and lobbying at the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool earlier this year.

The members of the scheme are grateful to all the MPs who supported them throughout the campaign and especially the Coalfield MPs who met with the Treasury officials at Westminster on a regular basis.
