Church art piece encourages conversations
A NEW art installation has been put in place at Tundergarth Kirk. The piece is titled “The Conversation” and it was created by local artist Fiona Riviere. There is also a poem which goes alongside the artwork, which you can read on site. Explaining her inspiration and the meaning of the sculpture, Fiona said: “The piece was made on reflection about why people don’t sit down and converse anymore. All human contact seems to be through machines of some sort, phones, computers etc. We’re losing the ability to know how to connect face to face with each other. “Sitting talking face to face is so important. You can see and sense how someone is, happy, sad or scared. We can’t do this through machines. “The Conversation encourages people to sit, talk, reflect and most importantly, smile at each other.” A spokesperson for Tundergarth Kirks Trust thanked Fiona for the loan and added: “We welcome you to visit Tundergarth and see this piece of art, read the poem and ponder some of the questions posed.”
