Christmas thanks
THANKS have been expressed to all who donated to and helped with The River of Life Church Christmas Day Dinner in Dumfries. It took place again this year in St Mary's Church Hall, with a record attendance of well over 80 people, plus around 15 enthusiastic helpers. Pastor Mark Smith said: "We're delighted that this year's event went so well. The atmosphere was truly festive and heartwarming. We think this is the 22nd year we've run the event and each year more people are able to benefit from it. "We're grateful to all those who made it special; the incredible volunteer helpers who made the venue so nice and served on the day; the kind chefs and staff at Kilnford Barns kitchen, who provided and prepared the food for the multitudes! Cash for Kids, who contributed to the stash of great presents; the staff of Scottish Power Energy Networks, Dumfries Devorgilla Rotary Club, and many others who gave generously and supported the event in various ways. "Many people who would have been alone or would have otherwise found this Christmas difficult, were blessed with a fabulous day and left with full stomach and warm hearts. Thank you, Dumfries!"
