Child vaccination starts

SELECTED young people in the region are going to be offered a covid vaccination.

NHS Dumfries and Galloway this week announced that, as part of national moves, vaccinations are now starting to take place for some children and young people aged 12 to 17 who have certain conditions.

The local vaccination team will be calling families of those eligible due to one of the following: severe neuro-disabilities, Down’s syndrome, underlying conditions resulting in immunosuppression, and those who have a diagnosis of a learning/intellectual disability.

Families should wait to be contacted but can check eligibility at www.nhsdg.co.uk/vaccines/young-people-and-vaccinations.

Meanwhile, almost 95 cent of all over 18s in the region have now had at least one vaccination against the virus, and 80 per cent have had both doses.
