Chef cooks up a winner!

A CARE home chef from Dumfries beat off competition from across Scotland to win first place in a new culinary competition. Agnieszka Kolodziejczyk from Goldielea Care Home on Dalbeattie Road came top in the regional finals of Advinia Healthcare’s ‘Star Chef of the Year’ competition. Her dish of pork meat patties with cream sauce, creamed potatoes, braised carrot and cucumber salad was the firm favourite of the judging panel, which included care home residents. She now goes forward to the national final in Manchester in April. Agnieszka said: “It’s wonderful to win the Scottish round, particularly knowing that residents were judging the food. “All the judges were so enthusiastic and supportive, and it was amazing to hear them debating our dishes. “I feel deeply honoured to have created the food that won them over.”
