Charity support group seeks new members

PEOPLE from Dumfries and Galloway with experience of endometriosis are being urged to get involved with a support group.

Endo SOS covers the South of Scotland but is the only Scottish organisation for sufferers of the condition, which affects about 250,000 women.

Symptoms include chronic pain, fatigue, depression and sometimes infertility. It can negatively affect work, relationships and mental health. However, with the right treatment, symptoms can be managed, and life can be very comfortable.

And there has recently been some breakthrough research, which the charity was a part of supporting, helping to understand and manage the condition better.

As the group prepares to hold its AGM online at the end of the month, founder Tao McCready is appealing for more people from this region to get involved.

She said: “We would love to have more volunteers from the Dumfries and Galloway area to join us to help shape the future of Endo SOS. “New trustees will receive ample guidance and support to ease into their roles. In exchange, they will gain new skills, engage in fulfilling responsibilities, and have a direct impact on the future of endometriosis in Scotland.”

Tao added: “We understand that endometriosis is a multifaceted condition, and our services reflect our commitment to helping as many women and people assigned female at birth as possible.

“Whether seeking information, looking for emotional support, or simply wanting to connect with those on a similar journey, Endo SOS is here for you. You can find more information about the services we offer on our website www.endosos.org or give us a follow on social media.”
