REPRESENTING the local area, from Annan to Carlisle, the Border City Centurions have already clinched the Division One ‘Kings of the North’ Conference Title and finished the regular flag American football season with a perfect 19-0 record.

Their dominance in the sport has placed them above squads from major cities, including London, Manchester, Glasgow, and Cardiff.

This weekend the team, led by Annan based head coach Nick Weston, will compete in the National Division One Finals in Manchester.

Victory in Manchester would seal an unprecedented treble and mark a defining moment for the team, which has rapidly become one of the most talked-about names in British Flag Football.

With the announcement that the game will debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, players from across the UK are hoping to catch the eye of Team GB selectors, and a strong showing this weekend could be a springboard to international recognition.

Flag is one of the fastest-growing sports globally, with over two million players worldwide. The non-contact format of the traditional gridiron game emphasizes speed, strategy, and skill – making it accessible and exciting for all ages.

  • Established in 2022, the Border City Centurions are a Carlisle-based Flag American Football team, drawing players and club members from across Cumbria, South Scotland, and the Borderlands. The team proudly partners with the Lorraine Hough Testimonial Fund in support of Diabetes UK and is sponsored by Denton Tyres – part of Team Protyre. Affiliated with the British American Football Association, the Centurions compete in Division One of the UK’s National Flag Football League. With both senior and junior squads now active in league competition, the future of Flag Football in the region looks brighter than ever.
