Castle Douglas hotel on market
A HISTORIC hotel in Castle Douglas has been put up for sale for £225,000.
The Douglas Arms Hotel dates back to the 18th century, when it originally served as a coaching inn for travelling stagecoaches.
Today it has 23 letting bedrooms, a public bar, a restaurant, and three function rooms, as well as a three-bedroom apartment historically used as managers’ accommodation.
Christie and Co are handling the sale and associate director Tony Spence said: “This is a great opportunity to acquire a freehold hotel located in the centre of Castle Douglas.
“The hotel is currently vacant however it could once again thrive under the right management.
In addition to continued use, subject to reinstatement of license, the property also lends itself to various development opportunities, subject to obtaining planning from the local authority.”
