Cash to help tackle dropping population
FUNDING of £60,000 is coming to the region to help tackle depopulation.
The Scottish Government has confirmed their funding to deliver the Addressing Depopulation Action Plan in 2026/27.
And Dumfries and Galloway Council is set to receive £60,000.
Commenting, Equalities Minister Kaukab Stewart said: “This funding increase to deliver on our Addressing Depopulation Action Plan demonstrates our clear commitment to attracting and retaining people in areas across Scotland and addressing specific issues in Dumfries and Galloway.
“The first phase of this plan, delivered in partnership with seven local authorities over the last two years, has improved the knowledge and understanding of local population challenges across Scotland, and provided initial evidence of how locally-led interventions can support the sustainability of local populations.
“Projects across Scotland will be supported to grow local economies through a focus on childcare, housing, apprenticeships and more.”
