Caravan park lost over £16,000 last year
A LOCHMABEN caravan park is reported to have made a financial loss last year, to the tune of £16,148.
Kirk Loch Caravan Park is owned by Dumfries and Galloway and it runs from April to October each year.
In 2024-5 seasonal caravan pitches were fully booked, but the numbers of tourers visiting and tents was low.
Overall it made £53,707 in income, from site fees and sales of energy.
However, staffing and maintenance costs came to £69,855 – resulting in a net loss of £16,148.
Councillors on the Lockerbie and Lochmaben Common Good Fund sub committee will discuss the park’s performance and management next Wednesday.
They will also hear that the local authority has invested £183,293 in maintaining the caravan park over the last eight years.
The site has 27 electric hook-up pitches, toilets, shower blocks and laundry facilities.
There is one member of staff, working ten hours per week, and the overall supervisor is based at Castle Douglas Park, which receives and manages all telephone calls, bookings, payments and enquiries.
