Bus meeting looming

ANOTHER meeting will take place next month about bus transport for some Wallace Hall pupils. Parents were angry when Dumfries and Galloway Council revealed plans to withdraw a 246 service (from Dumfries to New Cumnock) after July. It is the main form of transport for out-of-catchment pupils from Dumfries to the school at Thornhill. Officials have already met with affected families, earlier this month to explain the rationale for the decision and planned next steps, with the session described as ‘valuable and productive’. A further meeting is now to take place with the parents and parent council in early-mid April to discuss the issues further.
