Broken bone not stopping young fundraiser
A TEENAGER from Lockerbie is stepping out for a good cause this summer, despite suffering a broken foot bone.
Lacey-Marie Rogerson, who was a gala attendant earlier this year, is doing the 31 mile August challenge in aid of Young Lives vs Cancer.
And she’s still putting her best foot forward despite the painful injury and is determined to complete all the miles and raise as much money as possible for the charity.
She is being inspired by and doing it in memory of her beloved late papa, Bob Rogerson. He was well known in the town and area through his role as a community police officer but sadly died after a battle with cancer.
Lacey’s proud mum Ann-Marie is supporting her daughter and together they have so far completed 21 miles in the local area.
She said: “It’s been hard as Lacey broke a bone in her foot before the challenge but has been determined to do it.
“Dad was the community cop in Lockerbie for many years. Cancer unfortunately got the better of him. He never let anything stop him.
“Lacey has seen first hand how it affected her Papa and doesn’t want a child to go through this without help.”
