Bridge repairs date given

REPAIR works to the Newton Stewart suspension bridge will take place in the last week of November.

The contractor- Beaver Bridges - has confirmed that fabrication of the replacement hangers is underway and is expected to take two weeks to complete.

As such, they anticipate being on site during the last week of the month to repair the bridge.

However, the work is weather dependant and will not be able to go ahead in windy conditions.

Cllr Jackie McCamon welcomed the update and said: “If all goes according to plan, the bridge should be fully repaired by the end of November.”
