Bridge crossing furore
DUMFRIES and Galloway Council say they are 'aware' of footage of vehicles crossing Kirkcudbright Bridge that break the legal restrictions that are in force.
And they have revealed that Police Scotland is investigating the footage and incident, from last week.
A council spokesperson said: "As a reminder, vehicles are limited to a 3 tonne Maximum Gross Vehicle Weight. Vehicles must be no wider than 2.3 metres wide or 5.6 metres long. No towing is allowed on the bridge.
"The restrictions are well signposted – please make sure you know your vehicle and follow the signs. Drivers should know the ‘plated weight’ of the vehicle they are driving.
"It is the driver’s responsibility to follow roadside signage, not to blindly follow their sat-nav.
"Thanks to all those who continue to follow the restrictions that support the reopening of Kirkcudbright Bridge."
