Bridge closure

A BRIDGE near Castle Douglas will be closed for improvements from Monday.

The old Bridge of Dee will be closed for improvement works from Monday March 16 to Friday March 20. Works will be carried out by David Hardie Engineering on behalf of Dumfries and Galloway Council

The works will involve, implementation of weight restriction measures, installation of width restriction measures and the introduction of a 20-mph speed limit

During the works, the bridge will be fully closed to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic and a signed diversion route will be in place.

A spokesperson for David Hardie Engineering said: "We appreciate that this closure will cause inconvenience and disruption, and we will endeavour to complete the works as safely and efficiently as possible. These measures are necessary to protect the structure and ensure long-term public safety."
