Bellissimo run for Libby

PARALYMPIC runner Libby Clegg, above, enjoyed a medal haul at the 2015 Italian Open Championships at the weekend.

The 25-year-old, whose family live in Langholm, stormed to victory in the 100m T12 at the Stadio Olimpico Zecchini in Grosetto on Saturday.
And she continued her winning streak alongside guide runner Mikail Huggins on Sunday to also win the 200m T12.
The Great Britain star, who scooped gold at the Commonwealth Games, cruised to first place in the 100m with a time of 12.76 seconds – 3.91 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor.
And her time was equally strong in the 200m as she clocked 26.58 seconds despite a strong wind.
Expressing his excitement following the weekend, guide runner Mikail Huggins tweeted: “We won both our races! Could improve times but had windy conditions.”
And Clegg responded by saying: “Great competition, shame about the wind though!”
Clegg, who also won a silver medal at the 2012 Paralympic Games, lives with a deteriorating eye condition known as Stargardt’s Macular Dystrophy, which gives her only slight peripheral vision in her left eye and means she is registered blind.
