FRIENDLY Therapet dogs and their owners were meeting and greeting potential volunteers in Lockerbie at the weekend.

Members of the charity, which promotes animal-assisted therapy, were at the town’s Tesco store on Saturday afternoon to raise awareness of their work in the local community.

It was a chance to meet store customers and staff, share information about animal-assisted therapy, and highlight the positive impact therapy animals can have on mental health, emotional wellbeing and social connection.

And they were delighted at the ‘warm response’ from everyone, which made the day a great success.

A Therapet spokesperson said: “We are incredibly grateful to Tesco for allowing us to have a stand in store and raise awareness of our charity.

“The support and enthusiasm shown by both staff and customers were fantastic, and it really helps us continue our work in the community.”

Therapet supports people of all ages in hospitals, care homes, schools and community settings, using assessed animals to help reduce anxiety, ease loneliness and bring comfort and companionship.

The charity looks forward to building further partnerships with local businesses to continue spreading awareness.
