Awards joy for Kirkconnel group

AN Upper Nithsdale group has been recognised for its efforts at the Keep Scotland Beautiful awards. Brighten up Kirkconnel won the small village award at environmental charity's online award ceremony on Tuesday, with 38 groups from across the country celebrated for their efforts to improve their communities by engaging people of all ages in growing and planting activities and through tidying and cleaning up events. The group also received a Gold medal certificate. Congratulating the group on their win Barry Fisher, chief executive at Keep Scotland Beautiful, said: “Congratulations to Brighten up Kirkconnel for their success at this year’s ceremony. " A brilliant network of groups across the country work tirelessly to make their towns and villages clean, vibrant, appealing and nature friendly communities for all to enjoy and be proud of. "Their unwavering commitment to improve their neighbourhoods is an inspiration to us all.
