IT was a hat-trick of awards for council staff at the recent ASSIST Facilities Management Awards. The council’s cleaning service was honoured with the Outstanding Contribution to Cleaning Award, a testament to the team’s dedication to innovation and environmental responsibility. This recognition reflects the success of the council’s ‘Find it Clean, Keep it Clean’ plan, which supports the region’s priority to address the climate emergency and transition to a carbon-neutral future. Congratulating them, Cllr Andy Ferguson said: “This recognition is a proud moment for our Facilities Management Team and the wider council. Their commitment to sustainability, innovation, and community wellbeing is truly commendable. The ‘Find it Clean, Keep it Clean’ initiative is a shining example of how we can deliver essential services while actively contributing to our carbon-neutral goals.” Meanwhile, Emma Currie of Cargenbridge Primary School was named winner of the Community Focus Award. Emma’s inspiring campaign to install defibrillators in schools across Dumfries and Galloway began in 2017 and has since expanded to equip 21 schools with life-saving devices. Her work, inspired by the memory of Emma Ross, exemplifies the power of community-driven action. [caption id="attachment_61594" align="aligncenter" width="680"]
