Awards galore for regional groups
SEVEN community groups within Dumfries have been recognised by at the Keep Scotland Beautiful awards.
Each group which included Summerhill Community Centre, the People’s Project Dumfries, University of Glasgow Dumfries garden, and HMP Dumfries were rewarded with certificates by the environmental charity for their dedication, passion and committed action to enhancing their community and taking action to address the climate, nature and litter challenges.
Also recognised were Dumfries Adoptive Railway Gardeners (DARG) which also received a Certificate of Distinction for consistently growing and improving over the years of taking part.
Congratulating each of the groups, senior community initiatives officer at Keep Scotland Beautiful, Juliette Camburn said: “We strongly believe in the power of nature and community growing to transform places and help tackle the climate and nature emergencies.
“We would like to thank the incredible people of Scotland who we recognised with certificates today.
“Shining a light on their amazing work is as vital as it is to support volunteer groups with mentor advice, guidance and resources – so we are delighted to celebrate the highest number of groups ever this year.”
