Art trail secures funding
A NEW artistic trail in Dumfries has received funding from the Culture Collective programme. OutPost Arts and their Creating Space NW Dumfries project is one of 23 national projects to be successful. It aims to bond the communities of Lochside, Lincluden, Summerhill and Sandside together by embedding artists in the local neighbourhood to co-design creative activities with residents to promote wellbeing and regenerate the local areas. An art and wellbeing trail is on the cards across North West Dumfries, described as an accessible network of community-owned creative work and spaces for everyone to explore and enjoy. Lucy Bell, director of OutPost Arts, said: “This funding will allow OutPost Arts to collaborate and innovate with an amazing project partner, LIFT D&G - an organisation that offers a range of support for the Lochside community. “Artists will be embedded in neighbourhoods to co-design an uplifting trail of artworks that will give voice and visibility to the people of NW Dumfries. The project will break down barriers, confront inequalities, and connect people with creativity in the places they live - unlocking arts’ powerful health and wellbeing benefits.”
