A PATHWAY on a major Dumfries road has been cleared thanks to two volunteers.

Chairman of Locharbriggs Community Centre Association John Caskie MBE received an anonymous letter recently asking if there was anything that could be done regarding the entrance/exit into Locharbriggs – between Catherinefield Road end and the Tinwald Bridge turn off – passing the entrance to Jericho Loch on the A701.

The area was over grown and unkempt but also a safety hazard with drivers unable to view the bad corner as the grass verge was veering onto the road.

John contacted local lads Zye Rogerson and Stuart Turnbull – who’d previously helped clean up parts of Locharbriggs.

And earlier this week, John received before and after pictures of the area which the guys have trimmed and tidied up.

Passing and inspecting the road for himself, John was amazed how clear the area was and has thanked the duo on behalf of the community.

John added: “Once again Locharbriggs residents and people entering and exiting our area can drive safely, whilst pedestrians are also safer with areas for standing to allow traffic to pass.

“Everyone is grateful to Zye and Stuart for their dedication and hard work.

“It was pleasing to hear many passing motorists acknowledged the boys as they passed.”
