COMPLAINTS have been made about the lack of timetables at Lochmaben bus stops.
Members of the public came forward at the town’s community council meeting this week to share their grievances about the situation.
Over the past year, the bus shelters in the High Street have been vandalised with the timetables either removed or heavily damaged.
And not knowing when a bus is coming is causing residents headaches.
The community council has been actively looking at a temporary solution as they wait for the timetables to be returned to the shelter and timetables have been printed off and are available at the Tesco and both shops at either end of the High Street.
Updating members, Annandale North councillor Stephen Thompson said: “The local authority were intending to put up timetables in the shelter but that hasn’t happened yet so I’ll ask again.
“The duty is with the local authority and transport company to provide a timetable.”
Community councillor James Davidson added he has had numerous people come up to him to complain about the bus situation.
The cleanliness of the shelters was also noted by fed-up members of the public.
Cllr Thompson responded: “The roads team will do it and they’ve got it on their to-do list but it seems to take them quite a while to get round to it. But they do know it is needed cleaned.”
Electric boards were also mentioned but it was noted that Lochmaben used to have them but they never worked.
Cllr Thompson added: “Let’s get the shelter cleaned and them to put up timetables before we look at better systems for the future.”
