All things Japanese
A SPECIAL celebration of Japanese culture returns to Shambellie House this weekend. The Japan-Scotland Community Cultural Festival made its debut at Shambellie last year and is returning from Friday with an expanded programme. The festival is organised by JETAA Scotland as a cross-cultural celebration for all the family. Visitors will enjoy a whole day of activities in and around New Abbey, with plenty to see and do for all ages. Highlights of the weekend include: sumo wrestling and taiko drumming; bon odori dancing and Scottish piping; calligraphy, origami for peace, bonsai displays and workshops; traditional yukata dressing and portrait photo opportunity; kimono display and presentation, as well as cosplay competitions and Manga drawing contest on the Sunday with prizes for young artists and more. The Japan-Scotland Community Cultural Festival will take place from Friday August 22 to Sunday 24, for full details about this year’s festival visit: www.shambelliehouse.org.
