Ahead of the average

DUMFRIES and Galloway is well ahead of the Scottish average when it comes to covid vaccinations.

For 38.8 per cent of over 16s in this region have already been jabbed, compared to 27.6 per cent in Scotland.

And the local NHS chief executive Jeff Ace has pledged to keep up the speed.

Discussing the position at a council meeting last week, official Richard Grieveson said: “Dumfries and Galloway are about ten per cent above the Scottish average in terms of our performance to date.

“Access to vaccines clearly has fluctuated but at the moment we’re ahead of the game and Jeff Ace has given a commitment that we remain so.”
